UASC & Ethnic Minority Placements
Culturally Appropriate, Therapeutic Support for Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children
At Youth Haven, we are proud to be a trusted provider of support for Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC). We are committed to offering culturally sensitive, holistic, and tailored care to UASC young people from diverse backgrounds.
We specialise in delivering culturally and religiously appropriate placements within our Semi-Supported Group Living or Floating Support with Accommodation services, designed to meet the emotional, social, and practical needs of each young person.
Building a Firm Foundation
UASC young people often arrive in the UK having endured unimaginable trauma, including:
- Human trafficking and modern slavery
- Homelessness and unsafe living conditions
- Family separation and loss
- Mental health challenges rooted in displacement and trauma
Beyond adjusting to a new society, they face the dual challenge of healing from past experiences and preparing for adulthood—often without a family support structure.
We recognise these complex needs and create a safe, stable, and nurturing environment that gives them the space to begin again.
Our Therapeutic and Culturally Responsive Approach
Our services are designed to help UASC young people:
- Navigate the UK asylum system with clarity and confidence
- Integrate into new communities while maintaining their cultural identity
- Access mental and emotional wellbeing support
- Develop practical life skills and prepare for independent living
With the support of our diverse, empathetic, and experienced staff, young people feel welcomed, understood, and accepted from the very beginning. Our team members are trained in trauma-informed care and understand the emotional and psychological needs of UASC youth.
We use translation services, mentoring, and culturally aware practices to ensure that every young person knows:
- Why they have been placed with us
- What support they can expect
- That their culture, language, and identity are respected and valued
We also provide translated documents to help with orientation and build strong, transparent relationships from day one.
